Heating Checks

Radiators are not working.

Is the programmer calling for heating* (have you turned the heating on)?

Is the room thermostat calling for heating* (have you turned it up)?

Are any of the radiators coming on?

Are the radiators that are working upstairs or down?

They maybe airlocked, try turning off all radiators by their valves - leaving only one on. Repeat for each affected radiator until working.

Are the radiators turned on at the valves?

Try bleeding the radiator(s).

Check the pump is working* and that  the pump valves either side of it are open.

Turn it on, if working stop. If still not working carry on with chart.

Both Are Ok.

There maybe a blockage in the pipework, further investigation is required.

Is the boiler turned on*?

No

Turn it on, if working stop. If still not working carry on with chart.

If valves were closed then open them. If the pump is at fault replace the pump.

Has the motorised valve motorised across?*

Yes

No

Try manually pushing the arm across to see if you get heating then. If faulty replace.

If you  found that you answered yes to a "is it turned on?" type of question but it still wasn't on or working then  further checks are required. Steps with * may require electrical testing to further prove if at fault. These checks are not covered in this basic checks section.
