Waste Common Faults

Here you can find the common faults affecting waste pipes and traps.

Blockages

  • Air blockage - these form when pipework doesn't have the correct fall to the drainage point. To fix this alter the pipework so that it is constantly falling from the collection point (the trap) to the termination point (drain/grid).

  •

  • Solid blockage - caused by food debris and hair building up. You have three option 1) use a sink plunger 2) use rods to clear the blockage or 3) use a chemical blockage clearer.

Backing Up

  • Backing up - this is when waste water and debris actually comes up through the plug holes. This can be caused by a blockage or an installation fault.
